Lori has worked with non-profits for over 20 years. Prior to founding the Playlab, she served as a Director with the YMCA of Wayne County for 10.5 years. Lori’s passion for early childhood education and hands-on-learning grew as she oversaw two childcare centers, multiple after-school programs, and four Summer Camps in Wayne County during her time at the YMCA.
Lori resides in Wayne County with her husband Luis, who works for Last Arrow Manufacturing, and their children Ryan, Caden and Alle.
Rachel graduated from Ashland University with a K-12 Intervention Specialist degree and a Reading Endorsement and Autism Certificate.
Rachel is currently employed as an Autism Intervention Specialist with Waynedale Local Schools. She serves as a member of Waynedale District Autism Committee, National Education Association, and the Council for Exceptional Children.
Rachel resides in Apple Creek with her husband and two children.
A graduate of Waynedale High School, Katie went on to pursue an Associate degree in Equine Science from The Ohio State ATI. Afterwards, she continued her education and passion for agriculture by getting her Bachelor degree in Animal Science from The Ohio State University. From there, she started her career at Charles River Laboratories located in Ashland and currently holds the position of Quality Control for their BioAnalytical Chemistry department. She has a certificate for the AALAS and is a core member of the Women's Employee Resource Group for Charles River.
Katie resides in Jeromesville with her husband Shane and their son and daughter.
After graduating from Wadworth Senior High, Derek went on to complete his Bachelor degree in Technology Education at Kent State University. He then worked as a General Contractor and Carpenter before teaching for 6 years in the areas of Entrepreneurship and STEM Education at Wooster High School. His career developed into the private sector and he is currently an IT Business Systems Analyst for Robin Industries, Inc. with locations in Ohio, Mexico, and China. He is a member of their Automation Committee, helping to bring advanced automation into their manufacturing environment.
Derek and his wife Melissa live in Wooster with their son Joshua and daughter Hailey. He serves on the technology team at Wooster Nazarene Church and is an Assistant Scout Master for Troop 61.
Debi is a Wooster native who has been an entrepreneur for over 30 years. As the owner of Computer Sense, she conducts hands-on software training classes and takes on special consulting projects within Microsoft and QuickBooks technologies for small-to-large businesses across Ohio and beyond. In 2022, she became a Certified Business Coach and established Biz Sense to share her vast experience and expertise with others who need guidance with starting or growing their business.
In addition to her volunteer efforts, she also enjoys spending time with loved ones, reading non-fiction books, ancestry/ genealogical research, traveling to tropical locations, boating and hanging out at the lake, and watching “Friends” reruns.
Debi resides in Wooster with her husband Rick and their dog Scarlet.
Peter is a graduate of Waynedale High School (class of '09), and went on to pursue a Mathematics degree from Bluffton University. He later received his Master's in Educational Leadership from Ashland University and is the Assistant Principal and Gifted Coordinator at Northwestern High School in West Salem. Prior to his time at Northwestern, he was a high school math teacher at East Knox High School, followed by being the principal/administrator of Kingsway Christian School. Peter lives in Wooster with his wife Samantha, son Joel, and daughters Beatrice, Hannah and Hadley. Peter looks forward to having the Wayne County Children's STEAM Playlab so close to home, and looks forward to seeing the impact it will have on our schools, our community, and our local businesses in the years and decades to come.
Stephanie is currently the Assistant Executive Director at Upward Bound Youth (UBY), a non-profit ministry in Wooster. Stephanie received her undergraduate degree from Bluffton University and her master’s from Ohio University, both in English. Prior to working with UBY, she spent eight years teaching high school English in Shelby, Ohio.
Some of her favorite memories from her childhood include yearly trips to the Salt Lake City Children’s Museum whenever they were visiting family. “Aside from seeing my cousins, going to the museum was what I looked forward to most. I know the Playlab will have that kind of staying power in so many children’s memories.”
Scott Sinick has a Bachelor degree in Physics and Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Wheeling Jesuit University, plus a Master’s of Health Administration from Ohio University. With 15 years experience as a physical therapist and 10+ years leading teams, he is currently the Director of Rehab Therapy services at The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, sits as a member for Ohio Physical Therapy Association’s Ethics committee, held board positions for the American Physical Therapy Association’s Health Systems Council, and is in the Ohio chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Scott is certified from The John Maxwell Leadership Team, and is company founder of Sal-Lux Leadership focused on impacting the lives of high-performing high school and college students with Biblical principles. Scott and his wife Danielle live in Orrville with their daughter, Teagan, whose boundless imagination inspires her family!
A graduate of Smithville High School, Loni went on to pursue an Associate degree in Sales and Marketing from The University of Akron. During and after college she worked at Litehouse Pools. From there she started her career with Edward Jones in 2006 as a Branch Office Administrator for 10 years and currently holds the position of Financial Advisor.
Loni resides in Dalton with her husband Firman, daughter Nevaeh and stepson Jaren.
